Funding announced for new Windsor-Essex Mega Hospital

October 18, 2021

The below statement is from IBEW CCO Executive Secretary Treasurer, James Barry.

I am pleased to advise that today the Ontario government announced it is following through on its commitment to provide $9.8 million in critical funding to support the planning for a new Windsor-Essex Mega Hospital.

This is excellent news for the community, allowing the project to proceed to its next stage and ultimately helping to ensure a high level of health care for the people in the region.

This investment in health care infrastructure will also mean the creation of much needed jobs for local IBEW members as well as members of the Building Trades, further benefiting the community.

I would like to personally thank Premier Doug Ford and Health Minister Christine Elliot for making this important announcement and continuing to keep their promise to not only sustain but further bolster our economy and the quality of life in Ontario.

Recognition should also be given to the tireless efforts of Monte McNaughton, Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development. He has played a key role in ensuring collaboration between his government and labour and has been a  strong supporter of this project.

IBEW Local 773 Business Manager, Karl Lovett, also welcomed the announcement noting this is welcomed news for his membership and the community. Karl has worked hard to help get this project to its next stage.
