After two tournaments in hiatus, it was finally “Game On” and in typical style, Local 586 Ottawa gave a huge welcome back all IBEW Hockey teams and their fans.
There was plenty of good humored jousting between teams during appreciation night at the Shaw Centre.
The excitement and highheartedness was infectious (no pun intended) during the tournament. IBEW players and guests from across the province, including Local 58 Detroit, came together in great solidarity on and off the ice. John Bourke, Local 586 Business Manager, was quite busy presenting trophies and awards. “It was fantastic to see all the brothers and sisters enjoying themselves together and in person,” commented Brother Bourke.
There were new faces and judging by the comments at the end of the tournament, both new and returning players look forward to coming back in 2023.
Special thanks to Local 586 members that worked countless hours leading up to and during the tournament. A special shout out to Angele and Micheline who deserve a trophy of their own for their outstanding efforts!
