IBEW Local 586 Ottawa Support Essential Workers
As the COVID-19 crisis continues, essential workers ensure our most basic needs are met, and patients are nursed back to health. An outpouring of requests to help these workers resulted in the creation of the “Ottawa Hospital COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund”.
IBEW Local 586 Ottawa in concert with the Carpenters Local 93 and UA Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 71, donated 60,000 medical face masks. The PPE will support essential workers in the 613 area code working in hospitals, long term care, nursing homes and community care facilities.
John Bourke stated, “Our members have helped build many hospitals, and long term care facilities that are now in dire straights. We hope that our donation will let our health care workers and support teams know that we appreciate their heroic efforts.”
